Young entrepreneur revives ancient Chinese umbrella craft through social media, seeing surge in sales.

A 23-year-old entrepreneur from Hunan, Zhou Le, is bringing new life to the 600-year-old craft of oil-paper umbrellas by using social media and online sales. After learning the craft from his father, Zhou Le started selling umbrellas online with friends in 2018. His business took off during the pandemic when he collaborated with a popular vlogger on Douyin, leading to over 500 sales per day and millions of views.
