Over 60% of Canadians fear an impending recession due to U.S. tariff threats and high inflation.

A recent BMO survey shows 63% of Canadians are worried about a possible recession in the next year, largely due to tariff threats on exports to the U.S. Additionally, 48% believe the economy will weaken, while 19% expect it to improve. Inflation and rising living costs are major concerns, with 67% noting a negative impact on their finances. The online survey polled 1,500 Canadians from November 8 to 18, 2024.
