Nigeria aims to become self-sufficient in petroleum, upgrading refineries despite challenges.
Nigeria's National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) is working on a project to strengthen the country's energy infrastructure, aiming to transform Nigeria into a self-sufficient producer and net exporter of refined petroleum products.
The project includes rehabilitating and upgrading refineries in Port Harcourt and Warri, expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
However, the project faces challenges like aging pipelines and vandalism.
To address these issues, NNPCL is using a Finance, Build, Operate, and Transfer (FBOT) model, with work on new refineries and pipeline security also underway.
The project seeks to reduce fuel importation and improve energy security.
Nigeria se propone ser autosuficiente en petróleo, mejorando las refinerías a pesar de los desafíos.
