India builds 30 pontoon bridges using ancient Persian technique for Maha Kumbh event.
For the Maha Kumbh event in India, 30 pontoon bridges were built using a 2,500-year-old Persian technique.
Over 1,000 workers spent a year constructing these bridges using 2,200 iron capsules, each weighing five tonnes, to connect the Sangam and the 4,000-hectare 'akhada' areas.
The bridges, costing Rs 17.31 crore, are designed to handle up to five tonnes and will be dismantled after the event for future use.
