Lieutenant Colonel David Hamilton, the last surviving D-Day pilot, passed away at 102. Hamilton piloted a C-47 aircraft for the 9th Troop Carrier Command in 1944, transporting paratroopers who set up navigational aids for the main invasion force. He received five Air Medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service. In 2019, he returned to RAF North Witham airfield for the 75th D-Day commemoration and was honored in the U.S. in 2022.
