Fire at Roanoke's Southwest Market contained by firefighters; cause under investigation.

A significant fire broke out at a convenience store in the 500 block of Elm Avenue Southwest in Roanoke around 6:19 a.m. on Saturday. The Roanoke Fire-EMS Department responded and upgraded the call to a working fire, leading to the dispatch of additional units. The fire was brought under control by 6:56 a.m. with no reported injuries. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the blaze. The Southwest Market suffered considerable damage but quick response from firefighters prevented further harm.
