Iowa's Safe Haven Law saw its eighth infant surrender of 2024, with the baby now in foster care.
A baby boy was surrendered under Iowa's Safe Haven Law on December 3, becoming the eighth infant relinquished in 2024. The law allows parents to anonymously surrender infants up to 90 days old at designated locations like hospitals. Since the law was enacted over 20 years ago, 74 infants have been surrendered. The baby is now in foster care until a permanent adoptive family is found.
