Instagram introduces a new feature to Reels, showing videos friends have liked, to boost engagement and compete with TikTok.
Instagram is adding a new feature to its Reels service for U.S. users, allowing them to see videos their friends have liked or commented on, similar to TikTok's algorithm. This feature, accessible via a pill-shaped widget in the top right corner of the Reels tab, aims to boost engagement and compete with TikTok, which is facing a ban in the U.S. if it doesn't sell its U.S. business by January 19. The update also includes a reply bar to start conversations directly from Reels, potentially increasing social interaction within the app.
