India and Nepal launch a 900 MW hydropower project to boost energy security and reduce emissions.
Indian and Nepalese agencies have signed a joint venture to develop a 900 MW hydropower project on Nepal's Karnali River. The project, involving IREDA, SJVN, GMR Energy, and NEA, aims to boost regional energy security and promote renewable energy. Under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer model, it will operate for 25 years and is expected to enhance cross-border collaboration and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
