India approves 1,646 food processing projects to boost economy, create jobs, and aid farmers.

The Indian government has sanctioned 1,646 food processing projects worth ₹31,830 crore under the PM Kisan Sampada Yojana as of December 18, 2024. These projects aim to create 428.04 LMT/annum of processing capacity, generate 1.34 million jobs, and benefit 5.12 million farmers. The initiative promotes investment in storage, supply chains, and marketing to boost the food processing sector, with additional support for micro-enterprises and self-help groups.
