El Paso water well tests positive for E. coli; officials assure public water remains safe.

El Paso Water officials reported that a well on Coolidge Way, south of Interstate 10, tested positive for E. coli bacteria on January 15. The well, which had been out of service since mid-December, was briefly turned on for testing. Ruben Rodriguez, Chief Water Quality Compliance Officer, reassured the public that the water remains safe to drink, as it undergoes chlorination before distribution. The well will undergo a 24-hour disinfection process and be retested.
