Odisha, India, begins paying Rs 30,000 monthly to its Padma Awardees starting January 2025.

The Odisha government in India has announced a monthly honorarium of Rs 30,000 for all living Padma Awardees from the state, effective January 2025. The award, introduced in 1954, recognizes exceptional contributions in fields such as art, education, and public service. The honorarium will be distributed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and supersedes a previous plan to give Rs 25,000 monthly, which was not implemented.
