The U.S. Department of Commerce has granted $79 million to Coherent in Pennsylvania to expand its silicon carbide manufacturing facility. This investment, supported by the CHIPS and Science Act, will boost production of 150mm and 200mm silicon carbide substrates and epitaxial wafers, creating 360 new jobs. The project aims to more than double the facility's output and enhance reliability testing capabilities.
