Son sues over father's death, alleging he was "beaten to death" by New York prison guards.

The son of Robert L. Brooks Sr., a 43-year-old inmate who died after being beaten by New York prison guards, has filed a federal lawsuit. The suit alleges that Brooks was "systematically and casually beaten to death" by guards, leading to claims of excessive force, indifference to medical needs, and wrongful death. Governor Kathy Hochul ordered proceedings to fire implicated employees, and 15 officers and two nurses were suspended without pay.
