Port Kembla Copper sells contaminated site, funding cleanup for homes and future redevelopment.
Port Kembla Copper has sold a contaminated copper smelter site to developers Port Kembla Group Pty Ltd, set to take over in early 2026.
The sale will fund the cleanup of toxic metals, particularly lead, from around 300 homes.
This environmental remediation follows voluntary efforts by PKC to address the contamination.
The deal also opens the site for potential industrial redevelopment and new jobs.
