Offshore wind farm Sceirde Rocks seeks permission to power 350,000 Irish homes off Galway and Clare coasts.

A 450MW offshore wind farm project, Sceirde Rocks, with 30 turbines up to 1,000 feet high, is seeking planning permission off the coast of Galway and Clare. Expected to power 350,000 Irish homes and save 550,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, the project will invest up to €70 million in local communities. Construction is set to start in 2026, with electricity generation beginning in 2030.
