Air New Zealand has added its 30th ATR 72-600 to its fleet, featuring more fuel-efficient engines that save an estimated 3% in fuel compared to older models. The new aircraft, registered ZK-MZG, began service on January 16, 2025, with a flight from Christchurch to Invercargill. The airline has another ATR on order for mid-2025, as part of its efforts to maintain reliability in regional areas.
