TRAI proposes to lower costs for Wi-Fi hotspots to boost India's Digital India 2030 goals.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has proposed lowering costs for setting up Wi-Fi hotspots to boost the Prime Minister's Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) initiative. Under the draft order, broadband tariffs for public Wi-Fi hotspots would be capped at twice the rate of home broadband services, addressing high costs that have hindered the growth of Wi-Fi hotspots in India. This move aims to make it more affordable for operators to expand public Wi-Fi networks, supporting the Digital India 2030 goals.
