RSPB Wallasea Island Nature Reserve expands by 100 hectares, enhancing habitats for threatened birds.

RSPB Wallasea Island Nature Reserve in Essex is expanding by 100 hectares after purchasing four fields. The expansion, funded by The Ida Davis Family Foundation, will create a six-hectare freshwater lagoon and natural grasslands, providing habitats for threatened species like lapwings, redshanks, and avocets. The project, set to begin later this year, uses soil from the Crossrail construction.
