Nebraska orders review of Lumen Technologies' 911 services after major outages and failures.

The Nebraska Public Service Commission (NPSC) found Lumen Technologies, which provides 911 services, failed to meet obligations after three major outages in 2023 and 2024. The NPSC criticized Lumen for lacking network redundancy and poor responsiveness during the investigation. An independent consultant will now assess Lumen's system, and if improvements aren't made, Nebraska may seek a new provider. Lumen's contract ends in January 2026.
