MOL signs eighth LNG carrier contract with JERA, set for delivery in 2026, amid softened shipping rate predictions.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has signed its eighth long-term charter contract with JERA for a new LNG carrier. The vessel, to be built by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, measures 290 meters long with a 174,000m³ tank capacity and is set for delivery in 2026. MOL will manage the ship, aimed at ensuring a stable LNG supply for JERA, despite predictions of softened LNG shipping rates in 2025 due to increased fleet sizes.
