Carlsberg gains £3.3 billion control of Britvic, creating Carlsberg Britvic drinks giant.

The High Court has approved Carlsberg's £3.3 billion takeover of Britvic, maker of J2O, Tango, and Robinsons squash. The deal, approved by Britvic shareholders and the Competition and Markets Authority, aims to create an integrated drinks business called Carlsberg Britvic. Britvic, based in Hemel Hempstead and employing around 4,500, will continue its exclusive license with PepsiCo to produce Pepsi, 7Up, and Lipton Ice Tea. Carlsberg anticipates annual cost efficiencies of £100 million from the integration.
