BlackRock executive Mark Wiedman, key in growing passive investments, is leaving the firm.

Mark Wiedman, a senior executive at BlackRock with over 20 years of experience, is departing the world's largest asset manager. Wiedman, who was seen as a potential successor to CEO Larry Fink, played a key role in expanding the company’s passive investing assets from $500 billion to $1.7 trillion. BlackRock managed a record $11.5 trillion in assets in the fourth quarter of last year.
