The Belle of Baton Rouge riverboat, ending its river life, is being transformed into a land-based casino in Louisiana.
The Belle of Baton Rouge riverboat was towed from Baton Rouge to Gibson, Louisiana, on January 14th, marking the end of its river life. The vessel is being transformed into a land-based casino, set to open this fall. Meanwhile, the Belle's 242-room hotel is undergoing renovations and will reopen in April. The $141 million project includes a 25,000 square foot gaming area and aims to revitalize downtown Baton Rouge. The riverboat will be dismantled and recycled in Terrebonne Parish.
