Apple joins UALink Consortium to boost AI chip technology, aiming for faster data center processing.

Apple has joined the Ultra Accelerator Link (UALink) Consortium, a group developing high-speed interconnect technology for AI chips in data centers. The consortium aims to enhance AI model training and processing by enabling fast communication between chips like GPUs. With over 65 members, including Alibaba and Synopsys, UALink is set to release its UALink 1.0 Specification in Q1 2025, allowing up to 200Gbps bandwidth per lane and connecting up to 1,024 accelerators in an AI pod. Apple’s involvement signals its commitment to advancing AI infrastructure.
