Vietnam and Russia sign a nuclear energy deal to boost Vietnam's energy self-sufficiency and cut emissions.

Vietnam and Russia have signed a deal to expand nuclear energy cooperation, aimed at helping Vietnam become energy-sufficient and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The agreement, signed between Russia's Rosatom and Vietnam's EVN, also includes the transfer of a research vessel for marine studies. This move comes as Vietnam seeks to restart its nuclear power program, which was paused in 2016, and as Russia looks to strengthen ties in Asia amid international isolation over the Ukraine war.
