Two Irish men are jailed for over six years for extorting €41,000 through threats.
Two men from Monaghan, Ireland, Alan Fitzsimons (47) and Dominic Dynes (53), were jailed for extorting €100,000 from a man by threatening that his son owed money to dangerous individuals. The victim, whose son was allegedly involved in a money laundering operation, paid €41,000 but continued to receive demands. After pleading guilty to demanding money with menace, Fitzsimons was sentenced to four years and ten months, while Dynes received six and a half years, with the judge noting the real threat and fear instilled in the victim.
