Oregon governor OKs port to exceed water pollution limits due to heavy rains, to protect jobs.

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek issued an emergency order allowing the Port of Morrow to temporarily exceed its water pollution permit due to heavy winter rains. The port can now spread wastewater on designated low-risk fields in Morrow and Umatilla counties to prevent an economic shutdown and protect jobs. The port is seeking a $430 million EPA loan to upgrade its wastewater treatment by 2029.
