NIH study finds SARS-CoV-2 infection linked to a 15-fold higher risk of chronic fatigue syndrome.

NIH research links SARS-CoV-2 infection to a higher incidence of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). The study found that 4.5% of post-COVID-19 participants met ME/CFS criteria, compared to 0.6% of uninfected participants. This 15-fold increase highlights the need for further research to understand the biological mechanisms and potential treatments for ME/CFS following infections.
