Nigerian military reports reduced violence in South-East after arrest of Biafra leader Ekpa.
The Chief of Defence Staff in Nigeria, General Christopher Musa, reported a significant decrease in insecurity in the South-East region following the arrest of Simon Ekpa, a leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra. Ekpa was apprehended in November for his role in inciting violence. Operation Udoka, a military operation, has also contributed to the reduction of unrest in the area.
