The group aims to develop AI applications and tools for both Microsoft and its customers, focusing on creating advanced "model-forward" apps. The move comes amid increasing competition in the AI sector, with Microsoft also planning to invest $80 billion in AI datacenters this fiscal year. The AI business has hit a $10 billion annual revenue run rate.
