Indonesia battles foot and mouth disease outbreak, vaccinating livestock in 11 provinces.
Indonesia is combating a foot and mouth disease outbreak affecting 11 provinces, with 338 animal deaths and 14,630 infections since December. The government has launched a vaccination program, allocating four million doses, prioritizing areas with higher cases. The outbreak is attributed to unvaccinated animals, high livestock movement, and extreme weather. In 2022, over 455,000 livestock were infected, leading to 4,720 deaths and 7,561 more being culled.
