Indian alternative investment funds (AIFs) have seen a strong performance, achieving a 21.5% pooled internal rate of return (IRR) from 2013 to 2024, outpacing the BSE Sensex Total Return Index. Early-stage funds performed even better with a 26.9% IRR, while late-stage funds saw a 23.6% return. The total commitments for AIFs surged 87-fold to Rs 11.35 lakh crore by March 2024, highlighting their growing role in funding startups and fostering innovation in India's investment landscape.
