Georgia's Governor Kemp proposes $50M boost for school security, aiming to add $21,635 per school.

Georgia's Governor Brian Kemp has proposed a one-time $50 million boost for school security, adding to the current $109 million budget. This would provide each of over 2,000 public schools an extra $21,635 for safety measures, on top of their current $47,125. Additionally, $872,000 more is proposed for school psychologists, aiming to hire 16 more statewide. Despite this, school officials and advocacy groups have requested more funding for counselors and mental health support.
