South Korea plans to upgrade airport structures and address safety violations after a fatal airline crash.

South Korea plans to overhaul airport "localizer" structures, which guide aircraft landings, following the fatal crash of a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 at Muan airport in December. The transport ministry found seven airports with unsafe embankments or foundations and will prepare safety measures by January, aiming to complete upgrades by 2025. Inspections of six airlines also found safety violations.
