A new observatory in India fills a critical gap for astronomical observations and research.

A new observatory in Purulia, West Bengal, established by the S N Bose Centre for Basic Sciences, will enhance astronomical observations in India and fill a longitudinal gap between the Arctic Ocean and Antarctica. Positioned 600 meters above ground level, it will aid in observing astronomical objects, train students, and foster international research collaborations. The facility includes a 14-inch telescope and has partnered with Sidhu Kanu Birsa University for joint operations.
