China's rare earth exports climbed in 2024 despite a dip in domestic demand and supply issues from the US and Myanmar.

China's rare earth exports rose by 6% in 2024, reaching 55,431 metric tons, despite a drop in domestic demand due to slower economic growth. China, the world's largest rare earth producer, exported 3,326 tons in December, while imports fell by 41.1% to 9,645 tons, mainly due to supply issues from the US and Myanmar. Disruptions in Myanmar's mining hub also contributed to the decline in imports.
