Trinidad and Tobago questions constitutionality of gun amnesty immunity during state of emergency.
During Trinidad and Tobago's state of emergency declared on December 30 by Energy Minister Stuart Young, acting as Attorney General, a gun amnesty was announced. However, on January 6, attorney Gerald Ramdeen questioned the constitutionality of Regulation 11, which grants immunity to those surrendering firearms, stating such power should be with the Director of Public Prosecutions, not abrogated even under an SoE.
