Ninety-three percent of U.S. Protestant pastors give free Bibles to encourage home Scripture reading, up from 86% in 2016.

Ninety-three percent of Protestant pastors in the U.S. give free Bibles to their congregants to encourage Scripture engagement outside of church, according to a Lifeway Research poll. The survey of 1,003 Protestant pastors between August and September 2024 found this practice has grown from 86% in 2016. Nearly all United Church of Christ (99%), Pentecostal (98%), and non-denominational (98%) pastors provide free Bibles.
