A new probiotic boosts cattle weight gain and marbling, promising higher profits for farmers starting March.
A study at Charles Sturt University's Wagga Wagga feedlot found that Angus cattle fed Terragen Dry Ruminant Probiotic gained 4.6% more weight daily and had a 7% higher marble score compared to those without the supplement. The probiotic could increase net returns by up to $50 per head, offering a natural alternative to synthetic growth stimulants. The product will be commercially available in Australia in March 2025.
