India's coal imports rose slightly in 2025 but fell in November due to increased domestic supply.
India's coal imports increased by 2% to 182.02 million tonnes during the April-November period of the current fiscal year, up from 178.17 million tonnes in the same period last year.
However, November saw a drop to 19.57 million tonnes, down from 22.30 million tonnes the previous year, due to ample domestic supply.
Non-coking coal imports decreased to 117.73 million tonnes, and coking coal imports fell to 36.93 million tonnes, reflecting efforts to boost domestic production.
