Over 2 million Americans are without access to local news, sports, and entertainment programming after 63 Nexstar-owned TV stations, including WPIX in New York, went dark on Optimum cable systems due to a carriage dispute. Nexstar accuses Altice USA, Optimum's parent company, of making unreasonable demands for retransmission consent. Altice claims Nexstar is demanding exorbitant rates. Both parties are open to further negotiations.
