Manitoba prosecutors file grievance over unmanageable caseloads amid rising crime and complex cases.

The Manitoba Association of Crown Attorneys (MACA) has filed a grievance over extremely heavy caseloads that challenge prosecutors' abilities to fulfill their duties. Factors include rising crime rates, complex cases, stricter timelines, and a high volume of disclosure material, especially from new technologies like body cameras. The grievance won't be heard until October 2025, while Manitoba has also seen an increase in homicides and a loss of experienced Crown attorneys to other provinces.
