Ex-Oath Keeper Caldwell, acquitted of major charges in 2021 Capitol attack, sentenced to time served.
A retired Navy intelligence officer, Thomas Caldwell, was sentenced to time served after being acquitted of seditious conspiracy and other charges in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack. Caldwell, part of the Oath Keepers group, was found guilty of one count but the charge was later dismissed due to a Supreme Court ruling. He spent over 50 days in jail following his 2021 arrest. Prosecutors had sought a four-year sentence, but his lawyer cited his military service and injuries for arguing time served.
