Butte, Montana, gets $20M for a wellness center on former contaminated land, aiding pollution reduction and wildfire resilience.

Butte-Silver Bow County, Montana, received a $20 million EPA grant to build the Butte Community Wellness and Resilience Hub, a recreation and wellness center on previously contaminated land near the Butte Civic Center. The hub will also serve as a clean-air shelter during wildfires. Part of a $1.6 billion EPA grant package, the project aims to reduce pollution and bolster community resilience, with construction expected to take three years.
