SuperValu sees surge in bread, milk, and heating supplies sales amid Ireland's cold snap.

During a cold snap in Ireland, SuperValu supermarkets saw a significant surge in sales of essentials like bread, milk, butter, and eggs, with bread sales increasing by 7% and an additional 100,000 loaves sold. Sales of fire logs and briquettes also spiked by 61% and 80.4% respectively. Fresh meat, fish, and comfort foods like tea and coffee also saw a rise in demand. SuperValu's managing director noted customers are prioritizing staple products and heating supplies to manage the freezing weather conditions.
