Japan imposes new sanctions on Russia, targeting assets and exports, in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

Japan has imposed new sanctions against Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine. These sanctions involve freezing assets of dozens of individuals and groups, and banning exports of certain goods to Russian and foreign organizations accused of helping Russia evade previous sanctions. The measures target 11 individuals, 29 organizations, and three Russian banks, along with banks from North Korea and Georgia. Exports to 22 Russian military-related organizations will be banned, and 335 items, including machinery and communication devices, will be prohibited from export to Russia starting January 23. These actions are part of Japan’s commitment to the G7’s efforts to strengthen sanctions against Russia.
