Italy approves €300 million cable linking Malta to Sicily, boosting Malta’s energy security.

Italy has approved Malta's second interconnector project, a 122km high voltage cable connecting Malta to Sicily, set to be completed by 2026. The €300 million project, partially funded by the EU with €165 million, aims to enhance Malta's energy security and support renewable energy integration. The cable will run primarily under the seabed, with connections at Maghtab in Malta and Ragusa in Sicily.
