Uttarakhand will become the first state in India to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) this month, aiming to establish uniform rules on marriage, divorce, succession, and inheritance for all citizens except Scheduled Tribes, irrespective of religion.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami during the 29th Uttarayani Mela in Bareilly.
Dhami also highlighted plans to extend the state's pilgrimage initiative year-round, boosting tourism.
