Trinidad and Tobago declared a State of Emergency on December 30, leading to increased police operations. Since then, 360 people have been arrested, and police have recovered 22 firearms and 818 rounds of ammunition. The police have also seized 84.5 kilograms of drugs. The TTPS called on vacationing officers to return to duty and praised public cooperation. The state of emergency was declared following a shootout between rival gangs and concerns over retaliatory actions.
